DIVISION STRUCTURE/SKILL LEVEL

The Greater Portland Industrial Hockey League formerly the PIAIHL and FICHL was formed in the spring of 2008.   The new league played out of both the Portland Ice Arena in Portland and the Family Ice Center in Falmouth brings together the elite in adult hockey in Southern Maine.  With five individual divisions encompassing all skill levels the GPIHL has a division to suit anybody's ability:  

*Divisions below are categorized by the skill level of the majority of players in that specific division*

A Division:  Pro, Semi-Pro or Minor Pro (NHL, AHL, Europe, ECHL, UHL, CHL, WPHL, etc), NCAA Division I, Major Junior (QMJHL, OHL, WHL, USHL); Women’s (or Girls) AAA, AA 

B (1 or 2) Division:  University (NCAA Division II or III, CIAU) or Senior Hockey, Junior A, Québec Junior AAA; Women’s (or Girls) A, BB or B (FORMERLY D-1)

C (1or 2) Division: Canadian College (OCAA, MCAC, ACAC, etc), Junior B or C, Québec Junior AA or A, Rep AAA, AA or A; High School, Women’s (or Girls) C (FORMERLY D-2)

D (1 or 2) Division:  Select League, House League (FORMERLY D-3) 

E Division:  No experience with an organized League, started playing hockey ?as an adult 

30+ (A,B,C,D):  Age restricted 

40+ (A,B,C,D):  Age restricted 

*STRIKE THROUGH Indicates NO Established Division*
